In the upcoming 2024 season of the Premier Volleyball League, Japanese head coach Taka Minowa is set to take on a more significant role.
Akari recently revealed that Minowa, who led Nxled to an impressive debut in the Second All-Filipino Conference, will now serve as the Director of Volleyball Operations for both the Chargers and the Chameleons.
"After an outstanding coaching debut in the Premier Volleyball League, Nxled Chameleons' head coach Taka Minowa will now assume the role of Director of Volleyball Operations for both his squad and the Akari Chargers," announced the organization.
Minowa will be responsible for overseeing the volleyball programs of the sister teams starting in the next PVL season. However, he will maintain his role as the chief tactician of the Chameleons.
The husband of Filipina volleyball star Jaja Santiago will continue to lead Nxled as its head coach.
Akari also revealed that the team will soon disclose the name of its interim head coach for the opening conference of the PVL. In addition, new assistant coaches will be welcomed to the coaching staff of both Nxled and Akari.
"Moreover, an interim Chargers head coach will be announced soon, along with some new assistant coaches for Nxled and Akari," confirmed Akari.
With these changes, Akari management aims for the Chargers and Chameleons to ascend the ranks and compete for a title when the new PVL season kicks off in February next year.
Earlier this month, the Chargers announced the resignation of head coach Jorge Souza de Brito. Akari concluded the season-ending conference with a 5-6 record, securing seventh place, while the Chargers capped off their maiden stint with a 4-7 record at ninth place.
