PVL hopefuls enter final week before draft deadline

Young and aspiring volleyball athletes aiming to make their mark in the country’s top-tier women’s volleyball league have just one week left to submit their applications for the much-anticipated Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Draft.

Organized by Sports Vision, the PVL Draft offers a golden opportunity for rising stars to showcase their talent on the national stage, compete with the country’s elite players, and take their game to the next level. As the window for applications draws to a close, league organizers expect a surge of hopefuls eager to fulfill their professional dreams.

The deadline for application submissions is set for May 23, 2025. Interested applicants must complete the official draft application form, available online at http://pvl.ph/draft. Once completed, the form along with all required supporting documents should be sent via email to [email protected].

Applicants are reminded to double-check that all forms are accurately filled out and all necessary documents are attached to avoid any delays or disqualification.

To qualify, applicants must be female at birth, as confirmed by a PSA-issued birth certificate. They must be at least 21 years old by Dec. 31, 2025. Those younger than 21 may still be eligible provided they have already completed a college degree. However, there are no requirements related to collegiate playing experience or academic units.

Filipino-foreign applicants, meanwhile, are required to submit a valid Philippine passport or an official receipt confirming its release by the May 23 deadline.

Those who have competed in collegiate volleyball in the Philippines, but not under the UAAP or NCAA, must provide an endorsement letter from their collegiate coach or athletic director.

All aspiring PVL Draft candidates must submit a medical clearance issued by a licensed physician, certifying they are fit to play, along with a signed medical declaration. Additionally, applicants are required to provide a notarized statement confirming they have no existing commitments with any collegiate or club team prior to entering the draft.

So far, Nxled holds the highest probability of securing the coveted No. 1 overall pick with a 40 percent chance, followed by Capital1 at 30 percent. Farm Fresh and Galeries Tower are currently tied in the combined standings and will undergo a tiebreaker to determine who receives the 20 percent and 10 percent lottery chances.

Completing the first-round draft order are ZUS Coffee, Cignal, and Chery Tiggo and Choco Mucho, who will have a tiebreaker to determine the 7th and 8th picks. PLDT follows, with Akari and Petro Gazz also set for a tiebreaker to decide the 10th and 11th picks. Creamline rounds out the draft order at 12th.

The initial list of PVL Draft applicants will showcase their skills in front of team coaches during a two-day Draft Combine set for May 30 to 31. Adding to the excitement, the PVL will host a media day on the first day, offering fans an early look at the league’s next generation of stars.

The final list of eligible draftees will be revealed on June 4, paving the way for the highly anticipated PVL Rookie Draft on June 8. This event, following the league’s highly successful 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference, is expected to shape the future of the PVL.
