Justine Jazareno juggles roles as athlete, student, mom

Justine Jazareno’s journey is a testament to resilience and determination.

At just 24 years old, the multi-faceted libero is not only a professional athlete making her long-awaited debut with Akari butt also a dedicated student and a proud mother.

Her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities—family, academics, and sports—speaks to the strength of her character and the depth of her commitment to excelling in all areas of her life.

Jazareno’s recent PVL debut for Akari was a defining moment in her career, showcasing her defensive prowess despite a tough loss.

Sharing duties with Max Juangco, Jazareno registered 10 excellent digs from 19 attempts, contributing significantly to her team’s defense. Unfortunately, Akari was overwhelmed by the PLDT High Speed Hitters, falling 25-22, 25-16, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Jazareno's performance spoke volumes about her readiness to take on the challenge at this level of competition.

A prized libero who honed her skills under the esteemed guidance of coach Ramil de Jesus at De La Salle University, Jazareno has high expectations to meet.

Yet, as she took the court again after almost a year away, she admitted that readjusting to the pace of the game has been a challenge.

"Siyempre overwhelming siya kasi ang tagal ko ring nawala, halos one year din. Siyempre naninibago ulit ako. On the process," she shared after the match, reflecting on the road ahead for both her and Akari, who currently hold a 3-4 record and sit in eighth place in the standings.

But Jazareno’s story is not just about volleyball. Off the court, she is a full-time student at La Salle, pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. Despite the grueling schedule of training, games, and studies, Jazareno remains committed to her academic aspirations.

“Siguro time management lang. Sa morning hanggang afternoon training kami then I spend time with my baby rin naman after. Also, nagthe-thesis din ako so I have to manage my time din talaga,” she explained, detailing the delicate balancing act that has become part of her daily routine.

For Jazareno, every challenging day is made worth it by the joy and motivation she draws from her son. In the face of exhaustion, it is her love for him that powers her to push through, both as an athlete and a mother.

“More on mas nadagdagan siya ng inspiration. After training uuwi ka, feeling mo pagod ka, pero pag-uwi mo di ka pagod. Yun lang yung naging additional sa akin," she said, sharing how the presence of her child fills her with renewed energy and purpose.
